An Introduction to The Artist as Entrepreneur

This series of lessons is designed for high school students who are interested in learning more about art as a business. The lessons are divided into five categories: Entrepreneurship Awareness, Business Planning, Financials, Negotiation, and Arts-Related Law. Most are stand-alone lessons, but a few, particularly in the Business Planning category, should be taught in the order appearing on the Lessons list.

Additional lessons will be placed on this site. If you would like to have a lesson developed on a particular art-related topic, please send a message to The Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Education - UM-St. Louis. We would also appreciate your feedback on the effectiveness of the lessons in your classroom.

Artist Interviews - This new section is certain to build the entrepreneurial spirit in your students. All of the interviews feature artists of all types who have found that their art provided a self-employment opportunity.
