The Division of Continuing Education at UMSL is all about providing degree completion, professional development and personal enrichment by offering credit and noncredit courses, programs, conferences and events. We extend the educational resources of the University of Missouri–St. Louis at times and locations, in formats, and through technologies that best meet the needs of the adult learner. We help form new linkages with the community by serving audiences not currently served by the university. In doing so, we strive to maintain a mix of public service activities that meet the needs of individuals and organizations. We offer various credit and noncredit courses through our online Pathways Catalog, as well as more than 20 Certificate Programs and various courses and programs through our Centers & Programs and relationships with the Colleges. In addition, we hold almost 30 different Conferences, Lecture Series and Workshops.
Off-Campus Sites
We offer credit courses in your community to help you conveniently complete your degree. Partnerships with area colleges include Jefferson College, Mineral Area College, South County Education & University Center, St. Charles Community College, St. Louis Community College at Wildwood and the West County Continuing Education Center.
Computer Education & Training Center
At the Computer Education & Training Center, we offer a diverse set of intensive computer education courses. More than 170 unique courses are offered in topics such as: computer basics, business applications, database management, desktop publishing, graphics, Internet/intranet technologies, web page design, workgroup collaboration, project management, network management, operating systems and programming languages.
UMSL Online
In spring of 2012, we will begin offering online degree completion programs. This online course format provides students optional ways to complete their degree program online. Online courses and programs reach students disadvantaged by time constraints, distance or physical disability. In addition to the access and convenience of educational opportunities, students will be exposed to different learning environments and instruction that promote intellectual discovery and practical application to virtual settings.
J.C. Penney Conference Center
As the location for many continuing education courses, programs, conferences and events, the J.C. Penney Conference Center also works with external organizations, providing conference services including rooms, registration, marketing, catering and AV equipment use.
