Message From the

Faculty Senate/University Assembly Chairperson Dr. Timothy Farmer
The UMSL Faculty Senate and University Assembly are designated by the
Collected Rules and Regulations of the University of Missouri to exercise
the functions delegated to it by the faculty as whole. As such, these
two organizations act as vital governance bodies of the campus.
During the previous academic year, the Assembly and Senate underwent a program review similar to those conducted for other academic and administrative units on the campus. The intent was to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the faculty governance structure and provide recommendations to enhance our ability to support the mission of the university. The self-study report and the report of the review team are available for review on our website. During the current academic year, the Assembly and Senate will be addressing the recommendations of the team in an effort to improve our effectiveness.
The members of the Assembly and the Senate contribute their time, talents, insights, and experience to make important decisions on behalf of the campus community as well as providing advice to the Chancellor and other senior administration on a wide range of topics. Through these efforts the students, faculty, staff, and administration strive to make UM-St. Louis a premier public urban research university. It is my privilege to work with such an esteemed group of individuals. If you have questions about the University Assembly or Faculty Senate, please contact us: senate@umsl.edu .
Sincerely,
Timothy A. Farmer
