University of Missouri – St. Louis
R E S O L U T I O N
Whereas, the University of Missouri was designated in 1963
as a four campus system governed by one Board of Curators,
Whereas, the public research university of the State of Missouri is the University of Missouri,
Whereas, all four campuses of the University of Missouri share a common commitment to the public mission of research and community outreach in the land grant tradition,
And whereas the name “University of Missouri” is not owned exclusively by any one of the four campuses but rather, is shared by the four campuses,
Be it resolved that attempts by the University
of Missouri - Columbia to claim exclusive use of the name “University
of Missouri” are opposed by the Faculty Senate and University Assembly
of the University of Missouri - St. Louis.
