PROPOSED BYLAW AMENDMENT FACULTY SENATE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-ST. LOUIS

CURRENT VERSION:
Each department or parallel unit of the College of Arts and Sciences, Barnes College of Nursing, College of Business Administration, College of Education, School of Optometry, and other parallel units with at least five tenured or tenure-track faculty, will elect one representative by mail ballot distributed and tallied by the Senate.

PROPOSED REVISION:
Each department or parallel unit of the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Fine Arts and Communication, Barnes College of Nursing and Health Studies, College of Business Administration, College of Education, School of Optometry, and other parallel units with at least five tenured or tenure-track faculty, will elect one representative by mail ballot distributed and tallied by the Senate.

RATIONALE:
To add the College of Fine Arts and Communication to the list of parallel units and to correct the title of the Barnes College of Nursing and Health Studies.

Committee on Curriculum and Instruction - The Committee shall consist of the Vice Chncellor for Academic Affairs (non-voting); the Director of Admissions (non-voting); two students; and one faculty member from each of the following units: Humanities, Natural Sciences/Mathematics, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Nursing, Optometry, and such parallel units as may be created from time to time.

PROPOSED REVISION:

Also, to replace the Director of Admissions with the Registrar, with whom the Committee interacts. (When C&I was created, the Director of Admissions and the Registrar were one and the same.)

Committee on Appointments, Tenure, and Promotion - The Committee shall consist of full professors holding tenured appointment. There shall be one member on the Committee elected from each of the following units: Humanities, Natural Sciences/Mathematics, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Nursing, Optometry, and such parallel units as may be created from time to time. There shall also be two members elected at large from the campus. The Committee shall elect a chairperson from among its members.

Each panel shall include the senior campus research administrator (non-voting); five faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences (and no more than two from any one division of the College); and one faculty member from each of the following units: Business Administration, Education, Nursing, Optometry, and such parallel units as may be created from time to time.
