Dr. Pamela Stuerke, 2017-2018 Senate/Assembly Chair


The Faculty Senate and University Assembly of the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) are designated by the Collected Rules and Regulations of the University to exercise the functions delegated to them by the faculty as a whole. The Faculty Senate meets four times each semester and the University Assembly meets at least twice. The members of both Senate and Assembly consider important issues and make relevant decisions on behalf of the campus community, as well as provide advisory roles for the Chancellor and the University senior administration. The two bodies collectively represent the interests of the faculty, students, and staff of the University of Missouri-St. Louis -- a premier urban research university.

The campus has undergone many exciting changes over the past year as construction projects have been completed. With the opening of Anheuser Busch Hall, the new College of Business Administration Building, four new buildings have been opened, providing new teaching and laboratory facilities and a state of the art recreation center. Campus goals for improving student enrollment, retention, and graduation are being pursued and are important for the ultimate success of the campus. We are also preparing for the reaccreditation visit by the Higher Learning Commission in November of 2018. The input of faculty and staff will be essential for our success. The Faculty Senate and the shared governance process can contribute greatly to communication and deliberation on these and many other issues.

I look forward to serving as Chair of the Faculty Senate in 2017-2018. I will work hard to forward the goals of the faculty, staff, and students of the University of Missouri-St. Louis and support the University in service to St. Louis and the State of Missouri.
