Research Interests

Dr. Murray is interested in all aspects of oxidation chemistry. Of particular interest is the role of oxidation chemistry in biochemistry and medicine.

Other currently active research projects are:

  1. The study of singlet oxygen chemistry,
  2. a study of models for the monoxygenase enzymes with emphasis on those involved in polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) metabolism,
  3. a study of chemical carcinogensis, especially that involving polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH),
  4. investigations on the preparation and reactivity of dioxiranes, and
  5. a search for environmentally safe methods for bleaching wood pulps.
