Welcome to UMSL

08/18/17

Dear Students:

Welcome. Monday is the first day of scheduled classes and a well-publicized solar eclipse – both meaningful and historic events. Please take a few minutes to experience the eclipse, but most important take advantage of the long-term opportunities an education from the University of Missouri–St. Louis offers.

This is a truly outstanding university with faculty and staff dedicated to fostering your success in a safe, diverse and inclusive environment. Please reach out to them individually for help when appropriate or to any of a host of departments and services ranging from institutional safety, counseling and health services and student life. Here is a convenient link that I encourage you to bookmark.

I also have included in this note copies of our North and South Campus maps. I have done so because UMSL has grown and changed much over the past three years – which is a good thing. (Attachment - North Campus Map PDF) (Attachment - South Campus Map PDF)

Yesterday, the College of Business Administration formally dedicated its new home in Anheuser-Busch Hall. It is the fourth building opened on campus in three years. The others are the Recreation and Wellness Center, UMSL Patient Care Center and Science Learning Building – each developed to enhance your UMSL experience. Printed copies of the map are available in the Welcome Center in the Millennium Student Center.

Thank you for choosing UMSL. I look forward to witnessing and sharing your successes as you flourish in the classroom, become involved in campus activities and create lifelong friendships.

Chancellor
