MAY 2 – 4, 2012
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN

This year’s Eurogang meeting (EG-XII) will be a joint project with the Stockholm Police Department and its Gang Intervention and Prevention Project (SGIP). The theme for this workshop is Collaboration between Practitioners and Researchers. Approximately 400 participants are expected; 350 law enforcement representatives, policy makers, and program providers will join the 40 to 50 Eurogang participants. The purpose of the conference is to provide practitioners and researchers the opportunity to share their experiences and contribute to better informed practice and research. We plan to have a series of panels that highlight ways in which prevention, intervention, and suppression practices can be informed by research. To that end, you are encouraged to submit presentation abstracts that fit within the following specific themes: 1) research informed policy and practice, 2) practitioner/researcher collaborations; and 3) new developments in gang research. We will also entertain papers on topics not included in these themes but preference will be given to papers adhering to the specified themes, especially any explicitly comparative projects. We strongly encourage submissions from young scholars.
Two types of requests will be considered: 1) requests to present research results and 2) requests to attend as a non-presenting meeting participant.
Workshop Costs: Lodging and most meals will be covered by an EU grant.
Presenters: Paper abstracts should emphasize the extent to which research can inform policy or assist practitioners. Authors and relevant contact information should be provided.
Non-presenting participants: Requests to attend as a non-presenter should include a statement of your professional research and/or policy interest, with specific emphasis on how attendance at this workshop will enhance your professional development.
Submission: Space is limited and early submissions will be given priority. Submit abstracts or participation requests to: Finn Esbensen at esbensen@umsl.edu. Review of submissions will begin on January 25, 2012.
