Parking and Metro
If you plan to have a car on campus, you can purchase a parking permit in the Cashier's Office (285 MSC). Metro passes are available in the Cashier's Office. The expense for Metro passes is included in UMSL student fees, so students can pick them up at the Cashier's Office at no additional cost. The passes are valid for both Metrobus and Metrolink. The Cashier's Office also handles payment of semester fees. Please feel free to contact the office for more information at (314) 516-5151. Office hours are Monday-Tuesday 8:00am-6:00pm and Wednesday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
Orientation is a one-day required program for all first-time freshmen and transfer students with 30 or less transferrable credit hours. You will become acquainted with academic and co-curricular activities at UMSL, meet with representatives from your academic department and get acclimated to campus. Orientation and Registration is your first step to a Successful First Year Experience!
Register for classes
All students new to UMSL must be advised prior to registering for Spring or Fall classes. First-time freshmen and transfer students with 30 or less transferrable credit hours will need to contact their academic department for an advising appointment.
After you have registered for classes, please visit the Center for Student Success (225 MSC) to have your free student ID card created. Office hours are Monday-Thursday 8:00am-6:00pm, Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. Please bring your printed class schedule and a form of photo ID.
You can purchase your textbooks at the University Bookstore (209 MSC) before the classes begin. Be there early to avoid long lines and remember to obtain the bookstore's refund policy. Office hours are Monday-Thursday 7:30am-7:30pm and Friday 7:30am - 5:00pm.
