College of Education

An ideal blend of classroom study and real-world practice in area schools and related educational agencies (pre-kindergarten through grade 12 and beyond) combines theory, research, and first-hand experience throughout the curriculum. You’ll share in the insights and knowledge of faculty who are pioneering new approaches to teacher preparation, which include: developing multimedia software for instruction, collaborating with experienced teachers in field experiences and internships, using telecommunications as a means for professional development, and helping all students reach their intellectual potential.

Fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, our teacher certification program is recognized in Missouri and more than 30 other states – important asset if you should leave Missouri. Students majoring in selected academic areas who also want to teach can enroll in a special Career Transition program that enables non-education majors to become certified in secondary education.
