Pierre Laclede Honors College Supplemental Application Form

If you wish to be considered for admission to the Pierre Laclede Honors College, please complete the following application, in addition to the preceding Undergraduate Application for Admission.  This supplemental application form is also available to print in Adobe PDF format.

The central aim of the Honors College admissions process is informational. We want to know as much as we can about your abilities and ambitions, and we want you to know as much as you can about the Honors College and its academic program. All applicants to the Honors College must fill out an Honors College application. You may do so by filling out the following online application or by printing out a hard-copy version of the application above.

In addition, we ask you to send to us two of your best essays written for high school or college courses and have two letters of recommendation sent directly to us from high school or college instructors.

The letters of recommendation should be written on official school/college stationery and should contain instructors’ evaluations of your academic accomplishments thus far and of your potential as a University student. Your references are welcome to comment on other matters, too (for instance, on your abilities to contribute to the social and cultural activities of the Honors College). Letters of recommendation should be sent directly to the address below by your references.

Admissions Representative
Pierre Laclede Honors College
University of Missouri-St. Louis
One University Boulevard
St. Louis, MO 63121-4499

Your two sample essays should be sent to the same address. At least one of the essays should be on an academic subject (for example, a history essay or a book review). They do not need to be ‘clean’ copies; indeed, we like to see the comments your teachers have made on your work. However, clean copies are perfectly acceptable as well. Please ensure that your first and last name is on each essay’s title page.

Honors College Interview: For most applicants, the admissions process will continue with a visit to the Honors College, during which you will have an individual admissions interview with the Dean, Associate Dean, or a faculty member. Applicants unable to travel to the College may be interviewed by telephone. During or at the end of the admissions interview, we will tell you our admissions decision; and if we offer you admission to the Honors College, we will also tell you the amount and type of Honors College scholarship you may receive. Both the admissions and scholarship offers will be confirmed by a letter sent to your home address.

Our admissions interviews take place Mondays - Fridays during daytime office hours (8a.m. - 4p.m.). Family members are welcome to join in a brief question & answer session before or after the interview. However, they would not normally be included in the interview itself. Admissions interviews at the Pierre Laclede Honors College are informal and informational—not inquisitorial—and are aimed principally at informing applicants about the Honors College and its academic program. If we do offer you admission, we want to ensure that you know enough about us to make the right choice.

Please note: While there is no set deadline for admission to the Honors College, scholarships will be awarded to deserving students on a first-come-first-serve basis. Therefore, it is in the students’ best interests to submit their application materials as early as possible.
