Alan Byrd


Alan ByrdAlan Byrd proudly serves as the Director of Admissions at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He joined the UMSL staff in September 2009 and is responsible for providing leadership, direction and planning for all undergraduate recruitment efforts.

Alan began his career in college admissions in 2000 as an Admission Counselor for Southeast Missouri State University.  For nine years, he served in the recruitment program at SEMO in a variety positions including the Director of Minority Recruitment and the Associate Director of Enrollment Management. 

As a native of St. Louis, Alan was born and raised in North City.  He attended Lafayette High School as a participant in the St. Louis Desegregation Program before attending SEMO where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication and Master of Art in Higher Education Administration.  He is currently working on his PhD in Higher Education Administration at UM-St. Louis.

Alan’s favorite pastimes include working out and watching sports.  He is a big fan of NCAA basketball and looks forward to supporting the Tritons.
