A music degree from the University of Missouri–St. Louis offers a unique educational experience, incorporating rigorous traditional studies with diverse musical disciplines from around the world. The UMSL Department of Music is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
With more than 15 active ensembles, UMSL maintains an active and exciting music performance schedule. Many concerts and recitals are hosted in UMSL's impressive music facilities, which include the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center.
Music Degree Programs
Instruction in piano, organ, voice and all band and orchestral instruments is given by a dedicated, full-time faculty, as well as part-time professional musicians, many of whom are members of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra.
The Department of Music offers programs of study leading to a BM in Music Education, which includes state teaching certification, a BM with an emphasis in performance, a BM with elective studies in business and a BA in Music. Students may also earn a minor in music.
