What UMSL has to offer

Our faculty is committed to teaching the most cutting edge and up-to-date information, research and technology in the mathematical field.

UMSL’s Mathematics Department offers educational options, both of which prepare students for a successful future. The BA in Mathematics provides students an educational foundation in different areas of mathematics, giving students the depth necessary to pursue various aims such as graduate studies or other career choices. The BS in Mathematics provides students an extensive background in mathematics, statistics and computer science, producing graduates who can work as mathematicians. Both degrees offer optional courses that enable our students to focus on an area of interest, such as pure or applied mathematics. Our students will graduate with analytic and writing skills in mathematics, and will have knowledge of content in core areas of the subject. They will have been exposed to applications of mathematics and will possess critical thinking and quantitative skills.
