The information systems degree programs at the University of Missouri–St. Louis aim to teach students how to develop and apply information technology-based business solutions. The program is housed in the College of Business Administration at UMSL and accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Students have an opportunity to take classes from distinguished, full-time faculty as well as highly experienced practitioners from St. Louis' leading corporations. More than 90 percent of UMSL's faculty have PhD’s and remain involved in state-of-the-art information systems research, publishing regularly in the field's leading journals.

Information Systems classes are held in Express Scripts Hall, which houses six advanced technology classrooms with computer systems at the instructor's station and at each student station. These classrooms provide exposure to a variety of computing platforms, including IBM, Macintosh and SUN (UNIX). In addition, UMSL provides a dedicated computer laboratory available only to information systems students.

What UMSL has to offer

UMSL information systems students benefit from the advice of representatives from some of the most successful corporations in the St. Louis community through its participation in the IS Advisory Board, which provides partnerships in curriculum building, education and research.

At the undergraduate level, UMSL offers a BS in information systems through the College of Business Administration. At the graduate level, UMSL offers an MS in Information Systems wherein students choose from one of three specialization areas, Business Systems Development, Telecommunications Management or Electronic Commerce. Alternatively, students may design their own specialization from a list of more than 20 elective courses.
