Economics Degree Programs
The Department of Economics at UMSL prides itself on a student-mentoring environment where students interact with faculty both in and out of the classroom.
Classes are small and student-faculty interaction is not only encouraged but also, cultivated. To maintain such interactions, the Department of Economics features the Economics Resource Center, which regularly provides course work assistance and a place for economics students to gather, think, learn and socialize.
UMSL's Department of Economics houses a BA in economics, which offers a liberal arts orientation of economics, and the BS in Economics, which places emphasis on developing the analytical and quantitative skills used in economic analysis.
UMSL's graduate program in economics leads to an MA degree, which includes course work in microeconomic theory, macroeconomic theory and econometrics with emphasis areas in international finance, public finance, labor, urban and natural resource economics and monetary theory. UMSL also offers a dual-degree BS/MA, which allows students to complete both a BS and an MA in economics in five years.
