FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ST. LOUIS – September 25, 2013 – The University of Missouri–St. Louis College of Education hosts the Common Core Conference: Leading Innovative Communities on October 3-4, 2013, at the UMSL J.C. Penney Conference Center. Powered by the Cultural Landscapes Collaboratory (CoLab), this conference empowers educational leaders and faculty to harness the Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards.
The two-day conference features keynote speaker, entrepreneur and creativity expert, Peter Sims. Sims is the author of bestseller Little Bets: How Breakthrough Ideas Emerge from Small Discoveries.
The conference aims to help educators empower their faculty to envision new possibilities for the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Participants also will develop tailor-made prototypes of teaching practices that they can immediately enact to transform their learning community into an innovating culture.
Accomplished K-12 educators from all content areas will engage participants in cutting-edge practices that address the CCSS and NGSS. Every session will be enacted as an Inquiry Into My Practice (IIMP). In the breakout sessions, lead teachers with a Thinking-Partner will model how purposeful collaboration and critical reflection push educators to innovate their plans and instruction.
Participants can choose to attend the full conference for a registration fee of $199, attend Thursday only for a fee of $125, or attend only the Thursday keynote session at 4 p.m. for a fee of $30.
