Each autumn, twelve talented students gather in St. Louis to build their museum careers

They come from all over the United States, and from around the world, for training that will place them on the leading edge of the museum professions.

Museums are changing rapidly, and they need professionals skilled in leading the processes that are generating a new, community-oriented style of museology. The University of Missouri-St. Louis offers an innovative graduate program to meet this need.

Beginning a career in a field that is experiencing rapid transformation offers both exceptionalopportunities and exceptional challenges.

There are exciting opportunities to become a major contributor to the emergence of creative ideas and approaches that will impact the entire field. At the same time, special skills and attitudes are required to work effectively in a period when traditional practices of the fieldare increasingly questioned, new directions are only beginning to take form, and many proposed models remain controversial. The curriculum of this new program has been designed to provide knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable its graduates to become effective leaders within this rapidly evolving environment.
