HOTEL & TRANSPORTATION


SOLD OUT?!  Yes, some of the nights at the Riviera are sold out.  We do not have room blocks at any other hotels, but here are some other choices you might try....

The conference hotel is the Riviera Hotel & Casino at 2901 Las Vegas Blvd South, Las Vegas, Nevada 89109. 

Room Reservations
Reservations can be made by calling 1-800-634-6753 or 702-794-9412.  The room rate for WHA conference participants is Wednesday/Thursday $96/night single or double occupancy and Friday/Saturday $119/night single or double occupancy.    When making your reservation, be sure to request the group rate for Western History Association.
Cutoff date for room reservations is September 22, 2004.

TRANSPORTATION

Air travel:
American Airlines offers 5-10% discount travel for meeting attendees destined for McCarren International Airport (LAS).  If booked 30 days in advance, additional discounts may apply.  For individual reservations call American Airlines Meeting Services at 800-433-1790, use authorization number A91H4AR.

Ground Transportation:
The Riviera is less than five miles from the airport.  Click here for driving directions to the Riviera.

A taxi ride from the airport to the Strip costs about $16, and a shuttle starts at about $4. Taxis will not accept credit card payments. There is a $1.20 charge on all fares originating at the airport. 

There is a shuttle service which drops off at the Riviera. It is Bell Transport which is located outside of baggage at the airport. The cost is $3.50/per person. Their phone number is (702) 739-7990

Many major rental car companies serve the Las Vegas airport.

For transportation while you are on the Strip, the new Las Vegas Monorail is scheduled to be up and running in Summer 2004.

Parking: 
Parking at the Riviera is complimentary for the duration of the convention to conference attendees.
