Service Committees
Accounting Lab Committee
Responsible for tutoring accounting students in managerial and financial accounting concepts; volunteer a minimum of 8 hours per semester
March of Dimes Committee
Charitable event that raises money to prevent, fight, & support the research of birth defects. Responsibilities include performing basis accounting functions in addition to handling cash transactions, registering walkers, and processing donations for deposit
Mirth Day Committee
Responsible for setting up the booth and participating in the promotion of BAP, Duties also include keeping the booth adequately staffed at all times and checking the inbox designated for BAP in the Student Life Office (located on the 3rd floor MSC)
Spring Commencement Committee
Responsibilities include serving as ushers for the commencement ceremony
VITA Committee
Program aimed to provide income tax preparation for qualifying individuals. Responsibilities include preparing income tax returns for low-income and elderly citizens
Volunteer must attain IRS certification
Relay for Life Committee
Charitable event that raises money to fight, & support the research of cancer. Responsibilities include: attending team meetings, organizing and registering teams, raising and collecting donations, and participating in the over night event (walking, games, food, provide support)
Non-Service Committees
Audio Visual/ Photography Committee
Responsible for updating the BAP bulletin board outside SSB 489 and documenting activities and committees through photography; send pictures to the VP of MIS for the BAP website.
Alumni Relations Committee
Responsible for contacting and maintaining information (phone numbers, email address, etc.) of previous Beta Alpha Psi members through e-mail or phone to update the master database; in addition to keeping Alumni updated on social events and other events of interest
Food Committee
Responsibilities include: regular attendance to meetings, coordinating with Chartwells (when necessary), and making sure fresh food is provided for all meetings, receptions and some service dates (ex: Boy Scout food drive).
Nominating Committee
Responsibilities include: soliciting interest in officer positions from all members of BAP, providing members with officer descriptions and responsibilities, verifying candidates have fulfilled requirements, updating all members via email on who has been nominated for each position, collecting nominations, and conducting the election at the last business meeting of the semester
Publicity and Recognition Committee
The goal of this committee is to inform the chapter about the current achievements of our members; will work with the V.P. of MIS to keep website, bulletin board, and newsletter current and in sync. Responsible for: creating Newsletter detailing events and other noteworthy information about our members, maintain library (Room 913 Tower) by updating outside door
Social Event Committee
Responsible for planning and organizing end of semester party, faculty luncheon and Cardinal’s game tailgate
- Spring Party
Responsible for planning the bi-annual gathering of the BAP active and prospective members, alumni, faculty, friends, and the Accounting Club - Cardinal’s Game Tailgate
Responsible for coordinating tailgate efforts with the Accounting Club - Faculty Luncheon
Responsible for setting up the luncheon, working with faculty advisor and accounting secretary (to create a list of invitees and to distribute invitations), and organizing food for luncheon
Winter Initiation Banquet Planning Committee
Responsibilities include assisting faculty advisor in planning and coordinating the winter initiation banquet
Accounting Networking Night Committee
Responsible for coordinating with faculty, firms, and Accounting Club for a “Meet the Firms” night, managing correspondence/invites and distributing flyers
Bowling Night with the Firms Committee
Responsible for coordinating with faculty, firms, and Accounting Club for a “Meet the Firms” night, managing correspondence/invites and distributing flyers
Regional Valley Conference Committee
Responsible for the overall planning and execution of the Missouri Valley Regional Conference, the Trivia Nigh (includes planning and running the social event and managing correspondence/invites) and compiling 2 Power Point presentations for Regional Valley Conference that highlight 1. UMSL and BAP and 2. The city of St. Louis
By-Laws Committee
Responsible for proposing updates to the chapter’s by-laws as needed
Bio Project Committee
Responsibilities include collecting questioners from members, compiling information and designing an attractive layout to present the information. Coordinate with the VP of MIS to post on My Gateway
Requirements
ACTIVES AND PROSPECTIVESBe a member of two committees, one service and one non-service. (In addition to the above, you must be a Committee Chair to obtain Superior Status).
Committee Chair Responsibilities:
- Take initiative to plan the committee early in the semester
- Follow-up with all emails within 3 business days from Elisa V.P. of Committees
- Complete and turn in the committee report form through email attachment ONLY.
- Check BAP library periodically for member updates on your committee
- Be prepared to present updates at all Business Meetings
