Big Brothers/Big Sisters Amachi Program
The Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization in St. Louis is sponsoring a program called Amachi, where people of faith like you connect with children ages 5-17 of incarcerated parents. We have been approached by representatives of BB/BS to see if any students would be interested in being a mentor for these children. Here are some of the details...

- Volunteers spend 4-6 hours per month with their "Little" either at their school during school hours, or on weekends
- The time in school can be spent doing homework, playing sports, coloring, just talking about their day, etc.
- The time on weekends can be spent doing whatever fun recreational activities they want (watching movies, taking a walk, playing games, going to a museum, etc.)
- All activities are scheduled around YOUR schedule...whenever you can do it works for them!

Right now there is a waiting list of over 40 children waiting to find a Big Brother or a Big Sister in the St. Louis area. Please prayerfully consider being a friend and mentor to one of these children in need. Jesus calls us to a life of service, and this is a wonderful opportunity to show the love of Christ to others.

For more information, or to get an application, please contact us here at the Newman Center, or call BB/BS directly by contacting Relda Brooks, Director, at (314) 361-5900 x46.
