MISSION
STATEMENT:
The Catholic Newman Center serves the campus community at U.M.-St.
Louis through liturgy, fellowship, prayer, and education. As a welcoming
faith community, we offer service and leadership experiences, spiritual
guidance and faith development, and recreational and social opportunities,
forming people for their active roles in the church and the world.

Fr.
Bill Kempf,
Director
Fr. Bill Kempf is a priest of the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
Ordained in
1984, he has served as a full time associate pastor at Epiphany
of Our Lord
parish, teacher and campus minister at St. Francis Borgia
Regional High
School, Director of the Vocation Office, and roaming Campus
Minister at 6
colleges. He has been the Director of the UMSL Newman Center
since June of 2000. While continuing as Director, he is
also the pastor of St. Ann's

Tracy
Van de Riet, Campus Minister
Tracy
graduated from UM-St. Louis in May 2003 with a degree in
History. After graduating, she became an AmeriCorps VISTA
with Operation Food Search in University City, MO. Her hobbies
include playing with Snickers the dog, reading, hanging
out with friends, and hiking. She is thrilled to be at UMSL
and working at the Newman Center. She looks forward to another

Liz Detwiler, Campus Minister
Liz comes to
us from Saint Xavier University in Chicago with a Graduate
Certificate in Pastoral Studies. Though she enjoyed Chicago
(minus the Cubs and WhiteSox), Missouri is her home
and also where she obtained her undergraduate degree in Communications
from Mizzou. She is the oldest of seven, (yes, seven) with two sisters and four brothers.
She is very excited about her
dream job here at UMSL and looks forward to

Cheri Smith, Staff Assistant
Cheri graduated
from Truman State University with degrees in Psychology
and Child Development. She uses those skills daily with
her 4 children, Moira, Laynie, Collin and Ava, who all attend
St. Ann School. She and her husband Mark have been married
for 12 years, and together with their children enjoy any
outdoor activity, especially ones on the beach, having family
"dance party nights," games, and traveling. Her
favorite things about the Newman Center are the awesome,

Teresa Roberson-Mullins,
Mission Advancement Teresa Roberson Mullins has
her M.A. in Pastoral
Studies and an M.S. in Pastoral Counseling. She has
served as a Program Director for a Young Adult Retreat
Program; Pastoral Associate in a South St. Louis
Parish; Director of Campus Ministry and member of
the Administration in a Catholic High School; and as a
Hospital Chaplain. She will continue her ministry
with the
SSM Health Care System, as well as serving as the
part-time Director of Mission
Advancement for the UMSL
Newman Center. |
