MISSION STATEMENT:
The Catholic Newman Center serves the campus community at U.M.-St. Louis through liturgy, fellowship, prayer, and education. As a welcoming faith community, we offer service and leadership experiences, spiritual guidance and faith development, and recreational and social opportunities, forming people for their active roles in the church and the world.

OUR STAFF:

Tracy Van de Riet, Campus Minister

Tracy graduated from UM-St. Louis in May 2003 with a degree in History. After graduating, she became an AmeriCorps VISTA with Operation Food Search in University City, MO. Her hobbies include playing with Snickers the dog, reading, hanging out with friends, and hiking. She is thrilled to be at UMSL and working at the Newman Center. She looks forward to another great year at Newman and UM-St. Louis. Tracy may be reached at tracy@cncumsl.org.

Liz Detwiler, Campus Minister

Liz comes to us from Saint Xavier University in Chicago with a Graduate Certificate in Pastoral Studies. Though she enjoyed Chicago (minus the Cubs and WhiteSox), Missouri is her home and also where she obtained her undergraduate degree in Communications from Mizzou. She is the oldest of seven, (yes, seven) with two sisters and four brothers. She is very excited about her dream job here at UMSL and looks forward to having loads of fun with all the students. Liz may be reached at liz@cncumsl.org.

Cheri Smith, Staff Assistant

Cheri graduated from Truman State University with degrees in Psychology and Child Development. She uses those skills daily with her 4 children, Moira, Laynie, Collin and Ava, who all attend St. Ann School. She and her husband Mark have been married for 12 years, and together with their children enjoy any outdoor activity, especially ones on the beach, having family "dance party nights," games, and traveling. Her favorite things about the Newman Center are the awesome, friendly, and dedicated students and getting to know them! Cheri may be reached at cheri@cncumsl.org.

Teresa Roberson-Mullins, Mission Advancement

Teresa Roberson Mullins has her M.A. in Pastoral Studies and an M.S. in Pastoral Counseling. She has served as a Program Director for a Young Adult Retreat Program; Pastoral Associate in a South St. Louis Parish; Director of Campus Ministry and member of the Administration in a Catholic High School; and as a Hospital Chaplain.
