UM-St. Louis Composer Garners Praise
March 5, 2008
The oldest U.S. classical music review magazine recently described musician and composer Barbara Harbach as a "dead-on heart-and-soul American romanticist in the Copland-Hanson-Harris mold, having learned everything from those men [and others in that rank] except how to copy them and sound like them."
In the March-April issue of American Record Guide, Harbach, professor of music at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, garnered a positive review for two albums of her compositions -- "Music of Barbara Harbach, Volume 1, Orchestral Music, Symphony, Reverie & Rhapsody" and "Music of Barbara Harbach, Volume 2, Chamber Music 1, Ensemble, String Quartet & Woodwind Quintet." MSR Classics released both albums last year. Click here to download the full ARG review. (Adobe Reader required.)
