Stephen Morton joined the Universty of Missouri-St. Louis music faculty in 2005 as Guest Lecturer in Voice. An accomplished bass-baritone, Mr. Morton has sung major roles in both opera and oratorio and has appeared locally with Opera Theater of St. Louis, Union Avenue Opera, the American Kantorei, and the Orchestra and Chorus of St. Louis. Equally at home as a conductor, Mr. Morton serves as Artistic Director and Conductor of the American Chamber Chorale and has made numerous guest conducting appearances with many local organizations including St. Louis University and Washington University.
Mr. Morton received his vocal training in the Bel Canto style from renowned teacher, the late Edward Zambara at the University of Tennessee. Past coaches include Hans Hotter, Ken Griffiths, and John Wustman. Previous teaching posts include St. Louis University and the University of Tennessee.
