Doris Hylton

(Teaching Assistant Professor)

Mrs. Doris Hylton received her B.M.E., summa cum laude, from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Her M. Ed. was earned at Lindenwood University. Mrs. Hylton has done additional graduate studies at UMKC, University of Oklahoma, and Austin Peay University. She became an adjunct instructor at UMSL in 1992.

Doris Hylton had a very successful choral music teaching career at elementary schools in St. Charles, Wydown Middle School in Clayton, Duchesne High School and St. Charles West High School (where her choir performed at Carnegie Hall). She has worked with the St. Louis Children’s Choirs, was accompanist and assistant director of the UMSL University Chorus for over a decade, and has served as church organist and choir director for many years.

Among her other professional credits are over twenty choral clinics and choir adjudications in Missouri, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Louisiana and the Bahamas.
