(Adjunct Associate Professor of Music, teaching Voice, Singers' Diction)
Dr. Kathryn Haggans joined the music faculty at UM-St. Louis in 1993 after completing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Arizona, Tucson, where she lectured on the career of the astonishing French soprano Jane Bathori. Dr. Haggans also teaches voice in the Artists-in-Training program under the auspices of the Opera Theatre of St. Louis. A-i-T is a competitive program for high-school aged singers who participate in lessons, recitals, master classes and scholarship auditions each year.
She has performed as soprano soloist with the St. Louis Early Music Ensemble, the Bach Society of St. Louis, Historyonics Theatre and the University's Chamber Orchestra and Chorus. She is a frequent adjudicator and clinician and is Past-President of the St. Louis Chapter, National Association of Teachers of Singing. Previously she taught at Stephens College and University of Missouri-Columbia.
