Careers
This is a professional training program, designed to help students get a good job, and build a successful museum career. We offer rigorous classroom training in practical skills and practice-oriented theory. Most students also receive paid on-the-job training as interns in one of our cooperating museums. (Click on “Graduate Research Assistantships”for more information about these internships.)Graduates of the UMSL Museum Studies Program are now employed as museum directors, curators, educators, exhibit developers, archivists, collections managers, registrars, personnel specialists and other positions. They’re in small, mid-sized and large museums, all over the United States. They’re in history museums, art museums, science museums, historic houses, archives, and libraries. Click on the “Careers” link to the left for examples of what our graduates are doing.
