Changing
the Shape of the Nation http://csd.org/staffdev/iecweb/ushistory.html
Changing the Shape of the Nation is a program funded by the United States
Department of Education and administered in partnership by Ritenour
School District, Cooperating School Districts, and the University of
Missouri-St. Louis. This program, using the Louisiana Purchase as a
touchstone or catalyst, offers participating teachers a means to view
and connect major events and trends in American history that reflect
the latest scholarship on the history of the West and its implications
for the nation. This program also strives to connect local, regional,
and national history--from the Purchase to the present.
The program
offers content-specific professional development opportunities that
draw on current historical and pedagogical scholarship. There are two
18-month rounds of activities in the three-year program. Activities
include: Colloquia, Summer Seminars, Workshops, talks by Visiting Scholars,
and access to history resources of all types.
