HAGIOGRAPHY
COMPILATION SCHEDULE
This assignment gives you the opportunity to engage in the medieval practice of compilatio and explore the genre of hagiography.
Drawing on the two reserve texts available (see below), prepare an account of your saint in roughly 600-1000 words (1 to 1 ½ single-spaced pages). Some saints will require multiple scribes, who will need to collaborate on the production of the text.
Upload your hagiography to the relevant page of our Moodle wiki. **[Here’s how that should work: Go to Moodle, click on the “Hagiography Wiki” link; when this brings up a list of saints’ pages, click on your assigned saint. You’ll come to an empty page: click the “edit” tab to open a box where you can paste your prose. Once you’ve done that, scroll down and hit “save” and you should be done!]**
Be prepared to provide a brief (2 min max ≈ one typed page) account in class, on the date indicated, of some of the highlights of your saint’s story, to help us establish a medieval mood for the day.
