Undergraduate Transportation Studies Minor/Co-op
Undergraduate Minor in
Transportation Studies:
The Center for Transportation Studies at the University of
Missouri-St. Louis is pleased to announce a new undergraduate
program. First offered in the fall of 2005, a minor in transportation
studies is now available to undergraduate UMSL students of
any major. This new minor provides students in the St. Louis
area who desire employment in a transportation-related field
with the opportunity to gain valuable skills applicable to
the transportation industry. The minor will also provide the
industry with a source of university-trained personnel in
their field.
Courses for Minor:

Three (3) additional courses from:
- BA 3090: Internship in Business Admin.
- BA 3198/HI 3008: Railroads in American Life

Undergraduate Cooperative Program:
Junior and senior level UMSL students seeking a minor in
transportation studies will have an opportunity to work in
part-time jobs at local transportation/logistics-related firms.
They will work fifteen to twenty hours per week. Part-time
positions may include jobs in third-party logistics firms,
in warehousing operations, or in rail-, air-, water-, and
motor-carrier companies. Approximately every six months, the
Center intends to rotate students to different jobs within
the co-op program, exposing them to a variety of companies
and jobs, thereby increasing students’ knowledge and
marketability. Graduating students will possess diverse work
experiences and be qualified to fill first-line managerial/sales
positions at transportation/logistics/warehousing companies.
Local firms participating in the cooperative program will
have a pool of well-trained and experienced UMSL transportation
studies graduates.
