Dr. Sweeney joined the Center for Transportation Studies as its Associate Director in January of 2005. Prior to joining the Center, he served as the Supervisory Regional Economist for the St. Louis District Office of the US Army Corps of Engineers. Dr. Sweeney has 27 years of transportation planning experience and is a nationally recognized expert in the economics of water transportation. He was honored as the Public Servant of the Year in 2001 by the Special Counsel of the United States and received the prestigious Service to America and received the Service to America Medal in 2002.
