Amanda Gendon

cloverAmanda was accepted into UMSL's Criminology and Criminal Justice Ph.D. program in 2008 after completing one year as a Master's student in the same program. She was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in the Sociology of Law, Criminology and Deviance as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in May 2005. She will receive her Master's degree in May 2009.

Prior to attending UMSL, Amanda worked as a researcher at the Minnesota Governor's Office on a project aimed at reuniting families after they have been impacted by incarceration. She was responsible for providing resources to support the successful reintegration of incarcerated individuals.

Amanda's primary research interests focus on Internet- and computer-related criminality, hate crime, victimization, routine activities and situational crime prevention, and quantitative research methods.

Amanda is currently working as a research assistant/teaching assistant to Dr. Andres Rengifo. In addition, she is also involved in an evaluation of reintegration initiatives being implemented at the Kansas and Michigan Departments of Corrections. This project is funded by the JEHT Foundation.
