Jennifer Cobbina, Ph.D. Candidate

Photo of JenniferJennifer entered the UMSL CCJ Doctoral program in 2004 after being awarded a B.A in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Indiana University in May 2004. She received her M.A. in Criminology and Criminal Justice in 2006 at the University of Missouri - St. Louis.

Jennifer’s current research interests focus on prisoner reentry, recidivism, and corrections. Her dissertation research explores how female parolees manage their release from prison, the factors that contribute to their involvement in crime, and the factors that facilitate reintegration into the community. This study provides a comparative analysis of those factors that contribute to women's continued offending upon release from prison and those that assist women in desisting from crime post-incarceration. Members of Jennifer's dissertation committee include Drs. Jody Miller (Chair), Beth Huebner, Richard Wright and Patricia O'Brien.
