Dr Wagner has recently published
Good Order and Safety: A History of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, 1861-1906. The book investigates the beginnings of the St. Louis police department during a time commonly referred to as the “political era of policing”. The book further examines the reasons for the police department’s establishment and the inner workings of the department during that era. The book covers not only the story of the early St. Louis Police Department, but also how it is integrated with the history of St. Louis and the state of Missouri.
The book signing for the release of Good Order and Safety: A History of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, 1861-1906 is Wednesday, June 18th at 7 pm at the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park. The book may be purchased at book stores or on the internet at places such as Amazon.com.
